A decorative painter for twenty-six years, Shannon began painting as a hobby while living on a Canadian Air Force base in Cold Lake, Alberta as a way to pass the six months of snow and cold. 

On moving to Kansas in 1998, Shannon began taking classes at a local shop and was introduced to the Society of Decorative Painting in downtown Wichita. Coincidentally, the SDP Convention was in Wichita that May and she attended her first convention. Taking in the Certification display, she was mesmerized by the stroke category boards. The flow and color schemes were eye catching. She made a promise to herself to work towards her CDA in stroke category. 

Shannon met a local teacher in one of the classes who offered classes at the SDP offices in town and immediately signed up for any classes she could. Her hobby soon evolved into booths in local craft shows. 

She was a founding member of a local SDP chapter and served in several officer positions until the chapter was dissolved. She is now a current member of the Kansas Wheat hearts Organization. She has taught for SDP and HOOT conventions and local chapters. Her designs have been published in the Decorative Painter Magazine. A good friend gave Shannon a most valuable piece of advice; on the back of every finished piece, paint some form of a stroke work border. Shannon received her CDA in the Stroke category in 2011. 

Shannon continues to reside in Valley Center outside Wichita, KS with her husband Cameron, her grown son Austin, and their rescue dog Moon, and cat Brownie. She painted several backdrops for the local high school marching band shows when Austin played tuba. She continues to design and teach zoom classes and take classes whenever she can to help relieve stress from her job as an ICU registered nurse.
